Every year, The Pride Center at Equality Park hosts Wicked Manors, one of the largest Halloween block parties in Florida. From the big stages to the creative costumes, this event is certainly a spectacle to experience. But what truly blows us away is its mission.
The Pride Center at Equality Park is focused on creating a welcoming, safe and inclusive space that empowers the LGBT community in South Florida. Through outreach services, educational series and social activities like Wicked Manors, this organization serves people of all ages, giving them the opportunity to connect, learn and remove the stigma from important conversations. It is also a major site for HIV testing, prevention, support, counseling and more.
That’s why, this year, we are thrilled to have sponsored Wicked Manors and supported The Pride Center’s efforts with a donation of $5,000.
Prior to the event, our team had the privilege of visiting The Pride Center and meeting some of their remarkable volunteers, who welcomed us with open arms and showed us around the campus. We got a sneak peak of their brand-new residences, the first affordable housing community with customized services for LGBT+ seniors, and toured their community center, computer space and beautiful family park.
On October 31st, the El Dorado Furniture team headed to Wilton Manors to experience the Halloween block party first hand. This year’s theme was “Turn Back Time”, and everyone came dressed up in their favorite costumes. There were multiple stages for ample entertainment, costume contests for kids and adults, and local vendors giving out candy and food to guests.
It was an eventful night, and the best part was that all proceeds from Wicked Manors will go toward supporting The Pride Center’s Florida AIDS Walk team. Funds will be matched by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
Thank you to everyone who attended!
